M. Alim Malik Speaks on Cyber Risks and Responsive Strategies at Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce
IRVINE, CA - M. Alim Malik, President of the Firm and Chair of its Litigation Services Group, recently spoke to business owners on the topic of “Cyber Risks and Responsive Strategies” - an issue which has been pushed to the forefront of national discourse in light of recent events, including the well documented data breaches at Target and Neiman Marcus. Mr. Malik addressed the need for companies to protect their confidential data (particularly financial data, personal identification information and personal health information) from both internal and external threats. Mr. Malik discussed a variety of key issues, including security strategies, policies regarding access to corporate confidential information by employees and third parties, data protection procedures, cost sharing strategies after an intrusion, forensic investigation after an intrusion, cooperation with law enforcement, and disclosures mandated under state law. The presentation took place on February 26, 2014 at the Hilton Hotel in Costa Mesa. The presentation was supported by a former member of the Secret Service and a representative of the FBI.
